Diversity

Diversity is not common,
Every tongue speaks a different mouth.

Diversity wears many different colors,
Like a warm brew of a metling pot.

Diversity has multiple talents,
Paints a picture, plays the uklele, fastest swimmer, fixes many things,
Too much to name.

Diversity has many names.
Tom, Amirah, Frank, Josephina, Mark, Dorinda...

Diversity does not exlude itself from any gender.
Male, female, homosexual, bisexual.

Diversity is one of a kind.
Related to everyone and everything.

Cooperation

"What is cooperation?" I asked.

"A joint operation or action," says WordNETPrince.*

"The act of cooperating or being cooperative," says WikiTom.**

"Work together on a common enterprise of project," says WordNETPrince.

"Cooperative - a jointly owned commercial enterprise (usually organized by farmers or consumers) that produces and distributes goods and services and is run for the benefit of its owners. Cooperative - done with or working with others for a common purpose or benefit. Cooperative - an association formed and operated for the benefit of those using it. Cooperative - accommodative: willing to adjust to differences in order to obtain agreement!" shouted WordNETPrince.

"Hey, hey, hey! Stop giving away all the answers! What are you a poet?!" argued WikiTom.

"Cooperative - A type of company that is owned partially or wholly by its employees, customers or tenants. Abbreviation: co-op; Ready to work with another person or in a team; ready to cooperate!" WikiTom exclaimed proudly.

"Haha. No wonder he's so grumpy. WikiTom has a brain size of a newborn peanut. Wiktionary is another wikipedia taken over by the average brain of unsucceeding excellence." WordNETPrince snickered.

Oh dig a ditch will ya! yelled WikiTom.

"Now wait a minute! I love both of your answers, but here's what I think cooperation is. Cooperation is when everyone works together to reach a common goal. If there is no cooperation, then we will live in a world of bitter bickering," I said.

WordNETPrince, WikiTom, and I smiled in agreeance.

"Yeah," we said in unison.

Communication in the Last 20 Years

Communication has changed dramatically since the time telephones were first invented. Technology has definately influenced society over the years, since there is always a new invention every half a decade. Communication used to be when people conversed and interacted with each other face-to-face and when people sent each other letters. Later in the 20th century, telephones were invented and everyone talked to each other through an electrical line. Then telephones modified into a cordless phone, the cellular phone. People could talk to each other outside of their homes and anywhere else in the world. At the start of 21st century, the Internet became accessible to the general public. People were able to communicate to each other through email, Facebook, Twitter, and so much more. Now we have video phones where people can have conference calls with each other and see their faces. Communication has become a lot easier to the comtemporary society and there is sooo much access with todays communication than ever before. Although, communication now has its own cons. Youth of this generation are not able to intereact with other each normally when they are face-to-face with someone. Also their language has become more slang and improper using text language as a substitute to proper English or any other language. Communication now has lost its luster, since almost every kid in the world rather stay in-doors and converse with another person through text and video chat.

Techniques and Methods for Teachers

There are many different kinds of teachers. Each teacher has their own teaching style in order to fulfill the purpose of their lessons. There are some good teachers that can connect to the students in order for the students to understand the concepts that they are learning. I believe there are many methods (especially for teachers who naturally cannot teach) that they should consider:
  1. Find out the students' interest.
  2. Figure out the students' time schedule.
  3. Connect with other teachers of the same department.
  4. Do not BORE the students that is not current to their young minds.
  5. Get to know the students parents/ guardian at Parent/Teacher Night.
  6. Care for the students' education. Their progress reflects you as a teacher.
If teachers follow these guidelines, then the students will become more efficient in their jobs.

Conveniences

Conveniences. How does that change people's lives? Conveniences are like good spoilers. They can give you exactly what you need without searching really hard to find something. Conveniences are like training wheels on a bicycle. They are handy little helpers that can help you with whatever you need help with. Conveniences can be considered a good thing or a bad thing. Good and bad conveniences notice when you need help, but there is a slight difference. Good conveniences can give you a hint to something that is worthwhile in the long run. People can use that convenience to give them an extra push towards another level they need to reach. Bad conveniences are another story. Bad conveniences do help you but they give you something that is a short cut to reach a certain goal. People use those short cuts that will get them somewhere, but end up realizing the consequences, such as losing a friend, death of an innocent person, or just plain greed. Now conveniences are just plain conveniences but it depnds on the human race to really determine how they use those conveniences. Are those conveniences we encounter good and end up bad or vice versa?

Achieving Fame and Fortune

How can anyone achieve fame and fortune? Well, it depends on your goal. There are many different ways people get discovered by anyone a part of a top industry. But it does take a lot of work. Some people have been in the "fame and fortune" business since he or she was really young. Out of those "some people" only about a few of them become legends when they are older. It is a rarity that anyone can live their entire life with fame and fortune. Most celebrities become very successful for one moment and then the next moment their careers are in danger. There are some other people that receive fame and fortune by working step-by-step to earn the career he or she dreams to have. We all can say that if you have a college degree or a useful back up plan, you can still do the things you love to do. Many sport players have at least a degree in communications or business so that in case they have a sports injury that can prevent them from playing in any league, they at least have their other option to fall back on. Sometimes with fame and fortune, people act a certain way that is extremely different from what they used to be. Some celebrities were sweet characters when they started the "fame and fortune" business, but as they had gotten older, they end up in the wrong path, such as drugs or jail. With fame and fortune, your life is never the same. You can try but usually it never works out. Everyone will be in your space and give you no privacy. Because you are known, everyone wants to hug you, kiss you, give you a gift, or become psycological nuts just to see your every move.

Major Environmental Problem

I think the major environmental problem is oil spills. There were too many incidents where oil companies "accidentally" dump waste in oceans and they do not realize how it affects the ocean animals and the human species. I am upset when I hear on the news that many ocean species are dying because of careless companies spilling oil. Just recently there was an oil spill from BP oil company boats. I do not what on earth how this situation ever happened. Did they do a systems check on the boat? Was someone lazy enough not to do their job? Or was there some type of malfunction that just suddenly occurred?
Oil spills is not the only harm to our oceans but also WASTE IN GENERAL. People carelessly throw foreign materials in the water or around the beaches and sewers. Does anyone realize how this simple act can affect us? Yes, the sea creatures will either die, get sick, or become mutated, but what happens when we eat them. We will not have a good appetite either. Plus, how else do we get our water? Yes, we have advanced filters to clean the water from filth and other harmful germs, but what happens when drink the water that unexpectedly had gotten contaminated from chemicals poured into ground water?
What do you think we should do to stop this? How about this: STOP THROWING WASTE IN THE WATER AND/OR THE GROUND AND START RECYCLING YOUR MATERIALS IN THE PROPER BINS! IF THERE ARE MATERIALS THAT CANNOT BE RECYCLED, THROW THEM IN THE TRASH OR GARBAGE CAN!

Poem, Short Story, or Short Short Story?

Look into his eyes.
Those chocolate irisis surrounded by a part of black licorice.
Dive into the black pool,
and penetrate through the invisible wall to see an amazing boy;

A beautiful colored boy,
sticking out like the only black pawn crowded
around by white pawns, knights, bishops, rooks, king, and queen in a checkered game.
What is he?
What is this miniature male capable to do?
Or destined to do?
Or forced to do?
Or "suggested" to do?
Is he a puppet on a string or the master of the puppet?

Through the brittle bones of decay,
Bold rocks bloom into muscle of steel,
formed by confidence, strength, courage and heart.

Little boy darts like lightening bolts,
striking through the puppetry chains.
He dives freely like a dolphin;
Swims.

Figures of Speech

City awakes in the night
its colorful bedazzled jewelry across the black sky
dancing and singing to its bluey jazz.

City awakes in the night
covered in raw sewage on its gloomy pavement
throwing up guts and poop and crying buckets of rain...in other words...drunk.

--------------------------------------------
Gum plots a pot of revenge
plumping its pink stickiness of bulging fat
bullets to the grass lightly clawing on the blade.

Gum waits on top of the grass
its rubbery suction attached to a child's ass
"Mwaahahaha," the evil laughs.

--------------------------------------------
The sheep prances in the grassfields
its wooly mass driven by miniatre horse legs
"Bah, bah," singing her beautiful opera.

The sheep stands on four on a lime-green hill
her black licorice face glistens
"Awwwww..." she rises up to the heavens.

Public Health Concern

The reasons are direct and upfront. Obesity and teenage smoking will cause a death of an unborn generation.

Teenage Smoking

Teenage smoking is a problem that occurs today and even around my mother's teenage life. Smoking represented, according to teenagers, coolness. With smoking teens can puff as many times as they want, make cool smoke designs, and do all kinds of tricks.  BUT!! Is it really worth it? Attention Teenagers Who Smoke: STOP KILLING YOUR DAMN LUNGS! You are not cool when you are *@!?ing smoking your internal organs out of your mouth full of vomit! You will burn your skin from the inside of your throat and out and turn into smolthering dust of rotten smog! Don't be tempted to smoking because you will die! If marijuana is illegal, shouldn't cigarettes be illegal as well. Cigarettes are three times as harmful than marijuana. Oh! Attention Teenagers Who Smoke: Don't be so freaking naive you little confused bastards. If your friends or anyone who offer you to smoke, tell them to back off and let them face the "Demon of Black Plague". Let your friends trigger the smoke detectors and set a building on fire. The only consequences they will face is ugliness, heart failure, and then....DEATH!

Math

Math is the basis to everyday life. Everyone has to calculate something in order to know how much money he or she makes (or loses) or how much time does it take for his or her little sibling to walk to the candy store around the corner. We cannot get away from math neither can we purposely forget about math. Math is an instinct that human beings have and without it we will have random disasters that can destroy the human race. We learn math in school because we need to be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide and other aspects on the mnemonic device PEMDAS. In order for us to become efficient in math, we need 1) to practice and 2) to have excellent math teachers. But so many people, especially African Americans, are not putting forth the effort to practice neither learn the math material. It's hard to believe since it is supposed to be the nature of African Americans to do so well in math, but it takes a motive and the skill of a great teacher to mentor and teach them and other minorities. Don't you think?!

Food

Why else would anyone choose the foods they eat? Everyone has their personal taste or preference of the foods they like. A person can like a certain food because of how it is well presented (e.g., color, texture, smell). In contrast, another person can like the same food because of its name. For instance, my mother likes mushrooms. She eats them because she likes the taste. In constrast, I hate mushrooms because of the texture that makes me want to vomit mushy fungus. Some poeple will choose the foods they eat based on the nutrition facts label. Individuals are either on a diet or can be allergic to any contents in the food product. One of my friends last school semester ate a certain granola bar that had peanut contents in them. She knew she was allergic to peanuts but she accidently didn't read the label on the back of wrapper that said: CONTAINS PEANUTS. Her face swelled a little bit and she lost her voice for the entire day. So...how do you choose the particular foods you eat?

Internet

The Internet is used to find the available resources needed to fulfill your purpose. Whether it is to research the history of telephones or how zippers became a wonderful invention, the Internet is a great tool to find all the answers to your questions. The Internet is used as an easy access to personal drama in a person's life. This includes Facebook, Twitter, Skype, Oovoo, Myspace, and any other social networks. Anyone can know everything about you and what you are going through. That is how hackers came into existence. Individuals can tap into your personal information and use it for wrongdoing. Many wrongdoings in the Internet consist of profanity, sexual harrassment, swearing, death threats, and creating viruses. Why ever use the Internet if we have evil people destroying innocent people's lives through blogs and other websites? Then again there are evil people in television too. What is up with that? Hackers of the Internet are nothing but scared creeps who are too weak to take down another person with one hand face-to-face. Besides the negative aspects of the Internet, the Internet is a faster way to look up items and information and a greener way to not waste paper. It's revolutionary!
